Our goal every year is to win our league championship and more. If you are interested in being a part of a winning organization, please email chicagothunderfootball@gmail.com with your contact information. We will be having our winter meeting soon. We will post this information as soon as it has been finalized. Veterans, rookies and prospective players are encouraged to attend.
Thunder Finish 2011 on Down Note
The Thunder finished the regular season with a 7-1 record which earned them the right to host game 1 of the MSFL Playoffs. After defeating the Mid-State Steel the Thunder traveled to Indianapolis for a chance to redeem their only loss of the season to the Indiana Generals in the Conference Championship game. The Generals proved to be too strong for the Thunder and advanced to the Championship game where they took o last years MSFL Champion, the Roscoe Rush. The Thunder finished the 2011 season strong but came up a little short. The Thunder would like to thank everyone for their support and would like to congratulate the Roscoe Rush on winning their 2nd straight MSFL Championship.
Thunder Defeat Mustangs 23-21
The Thunder improve to 5-1 on the season after defeating the Chicago Mustangs 23-21. Kicker Ben Aguilar set a new league record and won the game in the 4th quarter when he hit a 52 yard field goal. The Thunder offense scored their only touchdown when Shawn Sierra capped a Thunder drive earlier in the game. The Thunder defense put up 2 scores Sat night when Ron Williams picked off a pass and returned it for 30 yards and LB Billy Finley recovered a fumble in the end zone. There is plenty of room for improvement on offense, luckily the defense is in championship form! Next game, Thunder at Steelers
Thunder earn 4th straight Victory
The Thunder traveled to Springfield IL to take on the Faxes, despite a rough start to the day the team was ready to play on time due to the awesome driving skills of Windy City Limo. This was a hard fought battle against a newcomer to the MSFL. It took all 60 minutes for the Thunder to earn this victory. The Thunder defense played extremely well Saturday night and looks to be coming back to form while the Thunder offense is inconsistent thus far. This Saturday night the Thunder will host the Chicago Mustangs at 8pm CST. Prior to the game, we would like to invite everyone out to the first every Thunder tailgate party...come join us for some fun prior to the game and while you are at it, stay and watch two of Chicago's best teams go at it!!!
Thunder win 3rd Straight vs. Plowmen.
The Chicago Thunder traveled to Bourbonnais, IL to take on the Kankakee Plowmen sat Aug, 6th. Despite scoring first, the Plowmen were dominated on both sides of the ball for most of the game Saturday night. In defense of the Plowmen, they have been dealing with issues that are not new to semi=pro football. Lack of participation at practices and games. Several players were forced to play both offense and defense which can tire out any team. Yet, the Plowmen played hard to the very end of the game. They even returned the last Thunder kickoff for a touchdown. The Plowmen have a core of very talented players and can never be counted out of any contest. The Final score was 45-12 and the Thunder now look forward to traveling to Springfield, IL to take on the Springfield Foxes.
The Chicago Thunder would like to thank the management at The Library Bar located at 131 E. Marsile St. Bourbonnais L. right across the road from Olivet Nazarene University. They made us feel very welcome despite being visitors to their town. If you are ever in the area, remember to stop in and enjoy a fun night with friends. WARNING: there have been "Bear" sightings at the Library......Be sure to bring a camera!!! :)
Thunder win 30-27 over Patriots.
The Chicago Thunder win an Overtime nail-biter 30-27 over the Lincoln Way Patriots.
Game2: Thunder 53, Buccaneers 7
Defense! Defense! The Chicago Thunder has been dependent on defense for a very long time and Saturday night, the defense was dominant. When playing an opponent that is undersized and under-manned, teams have a tendency to lower the bar or "Take it Easy". This was not the case when the Thunder traveled to Romeoville, IL to face the Buccaneers. The Thunder defense played at a High level for 4 quarters in order to cleanse the bad feeling of the prior week. Unfortunately, the Buccaneers had to feel their wrath. The Thunder offense went back to basics with hard running game and timely passing. Some young players have really stepped up this season. Especially Darrell King who has 3 TD's in his first 2 games. Despite the score, the Buccaneers played hard for 4 quarters and even lead in Time of Possession. They have a nice core of players, some lightning quick playmakers and the heart you need to become a winner. If They can keep this group together and build, they will be a very competitive team for a long time.
Thunder Lose 36-24 in opener
The Chicago Thunder faced a very good Indiana General team in the 2011 season opener. Despite the heat, the Generals put up 36 points while the Thunder could only muster up 24. The first half was littered with missed opportunity on both sides of the field and ended with a 10-6 Generals lead. Both offenses came alive in the 2nd half but the Thunder defense was exhausted from being on the field most of the first half. The end result was not what the Thunder wanted but the 2nd half was far better than the 1st for the veteran offense. Next Game: Thunder @ Buccaneers

New Home for the Thunder!!!
The Chicago Thunder will be playing its regular season games at Benedictine University located in Lisle, IL. The Thunder would like to thank the Chicago Public Schools for the use of Hanson Stadium for the last 10+ years. Benedictine University was the site of the 2010 MSFL Championship game and will now be used for all Thunder home games and possible post season games as well. There are many advantages to the change such as easier access to the stadium, more parking options, and for the die hard or casual fan there will be food and alcohol sales in the stadium. What better way to take in a Chicago Thunder home game in July than a few friends, good food and Ice Cold beer! (The Chicago Thunder would like to discourage those who do partake in alcoholic beverages from drinking and driving!!! Your safety is our #1 concern and we would like your Thunder experience to be a positive one.)
